What is content marketing?

Content marketing is the simple technique of providing reliable and interesting information in any form, through any media in order to attract new customers and to retain the existing ones.

                              

Content marketing is not just the easiest marketing method, but it is also the cheapest. It keeps you more connected to your customers while establishing your brand as a reliable one. When you speak to your customers through your content, you become their mentor who provides them with exactly what they wanted. Since you act according to their needs, your users will be loyal to you. But one peculiar or rather interesting feature of content marketing is that it stays and it will stay effective for a very long time.

The concept that content marketing is just limited to blogs or forums is very very wrong. Content marketing is all about storytelling and you can do that in a numerous way.

  • Newsletters.

You would never be successful if you just wait forever for someone to come, search you out and then buy things from you. The internet is huge, the possibility that they might find you is probably once in a million. This is why you need to reach out to them before they find someone else.

And believe me, nobody is going to buy from you if you are planning to just brag about your products everywhere. You need to know your niche, understand your users. Find out your target market. Once you know your target market, concentrate on the kind of facts they would like to know about. Research tremendously to find out what engages them and what doesn’t.

You encounter 3 kinds of people mostly:

  1. Existing customers
  2. Sceptical potential customers.
  3. Potential customers who are unaware of you.

Once you have a fair idea about your users and target users, you thrive to keep them engaged with what you offer them.

We need to retain the existing customers, so we keep them engaged with newsletters, brochures, product suggestion lists, catalogues etc. You can even keep them active on your website by taking their feedbacks.

For the people who are likely to buy from you but are doubtful, you have to build more trust. For this, more content! Give answer to their queries, show them the best deals or anything that might help them out. It’s helpful to engage in posts that are educational.

For eg, if you have a sportswear store, you should be explaining why it’s important to get clad in something that is suitable for sports and embed a link or two that takes them to your website. If your explanation convinced them, then they will visit your website and buy your products, if they find it appealing. This strategy is helpful to attract people who are dubious as well as the ones who are lost and still searching.

To conclude, you need content marketing to:

  • Retain your customers and make more sales.
  • Onboard new customers.
  • To be found by the right people.
  • To establish a brand name.
